Rate of Fire
- Pro & Semi-Pro: 12bps
- D1, D2, D3, D4: 10bps
I’m sure many of you have heard the rumors that the PSP will be reducing the rate of fire for each division. From the information that I have gathered, there is no official number for the rate of fire but it will definitely be lowered. The rumored RoF’s for Pro & Semi Pro; 12bps, D1-D3 10bps, D4-D5 8bps.
The following was was taken from PBNation from a post by Lane Wright, guy who runs PSP.
“First, I want to clear up the “ignorant” comment. I meant ignorant as it is defined — unaware because of a lack of relevant information or knowledge
If you’re me to present you with the “numbers” of other companies in order to gain your trust, that isn’t something that I can do.
I can give you this number — a group of people who contribute 1.1 million into our 2.4 million dollar operating budget say they want a lower ROF. When it gets right down to it, that’s the basis of the decision.
I agree with their interpretation of THEIR numbers and why this is what they want. I also recognize that above and beyond what they pay PSP, they put additional millions into the teams. What they want is paramount in what I do going forward. It has to be.
You are correct that I should probably “act” a little more professional. But it would be just that - an act. I’m not professional. I don’t pretend to be professional. Honestly, I don’t think it is either one of the more important or more highly regarded qualities needed to do my job well.
I don’t dress professionally. I don’t look professional. I don’t act professional. I’m not a professional. I am a paintball player who happens to get into a position to make decisions for PSP.
The rate of fire is going to be lowered. That is an absolute fact.
You guys can talk about it, complain about it, discuss the heck out of it. But the fact remains, I believe that the best thing to do for all involved is to lower the ROF.
I didn’t make this decision one night at dinner. This has been discussed and thought about for months.
I have information that isn’t, nor is it going to be, available to the masses. That’s just the way it is.
The game will still be fun for just about everyone. The best teams will still win. The best players will still be the best players. Tournament paintball will go on. Next year no one will be complaining about this. 5 years from now, no one will even remember this. I have been through dozens and dozens of changes that “everyone” said exactly this same type stuff about. Just about every one of those decisions was a good decision.
The 2 that i think were wrong –
Separating the NXL from everything.
Increasing the rate of fire because we had the technology.
Both are being corrected (my opinion).”
In case you weren’t there or didn’t watch the live feed, here is some footage from cup.
In order to fill the gap the NPPL bankruptcy brings, the GPL is expanding it’s 7 man league across the US from just it’s northeast presence.
It will consist of regional events with a national final. These regional events will allow teams to qualify for the national GPL grand finale. This allows teams to play without spending large amounts of money on flights and hotels.
It’s still in it’s formulation phase, as it’s still looking for fields that would be interested in participating in it.
Here’s their press release:
GPL EXPANDS 7-Man ACROSS THE U.S.
First of all I am sorry to hear about the NPPL. I have played the NPPL for years and I have always enjoyed the events. But in the current economy this is the time for the industry and tournament series to evolve. With the high cost of airline flights, hotels, rental cars and not to mention taking off from work for several days the national events are currently too costly to attend. This goes for both players and vendors.
We have received an overwhelming amount of emails from teams all over the country asking us if we were going to pick up the NPPL gap and expand the GPL 7man events.
Our plan is take the current GPL 7man events which are currently in the northeast and expand the league throughout the country. Offering GPL 7man Regional events so the teams can play high quality events in their regional areas and that will make the events more expense friendly for them. Then teams that play the regional events can qualify for the GPL grand finale event which will be a National event.
We are currently in the process of finalizing the details of this new league as well as interviewing for possible regional locations for the GPL events. Any fields that are interested can contact the GPL office at 866-623-3996 or email brian [[[at}}} 357productions.com . For the players we encourage you to join our GPL mailing list so we can keep you up to date. You can do this by visiting our website at www.thegpl.com . We also welcome any and all ideas the players may have, so please feel free to go to the GPL forum located on pbNation.com .
I currently do not have all the answers, but I can assure you that we are working to make this new GPL 7man league become a reality for the players.

PRESS RELEASE
KEE Action Sports and HATER Paintball Enter into Strategic Alliance
Sewell, NJ, December 1, 2008. KEE Action Sports LLC. KEE Action Sports LLC and HATER Paintball LLC, announce an agreement whereby KEE has become the exclusive, world-wide distributor of all HATER electronic products. The license agreement gives KEE access to the most advanced electronic technology in the paintball industry and provides HATER access to the broadest sales network in the marketplace though KEE.
All HATRED marker boards and SYMBIO wireless loader boards will now be obtained directly through KEE Action Sports. Non-electronic HATER products will continue to be distributed directly through HATER.
Under the new arrangement the combined engineering efforts of KEE and HATER will result in the creation of next generation technologies for paintball electronics. Included in this new product line up will be the new VICI Electronic Platform™, scheduled to release in the coming months, which will bring the most advance electronics to the market.
KEE Action Sports LLC is the worldwide leader in the distribution of paintball sporting goods and the manufacturer and exclusive source for RPS®, Empire®, Invert™, Invert™ MINI™, BT Paintball™, HALO®, EVIL®, and Pure Energy® brand products.
HATER Paintball LLC, based in Kissimmee, Florida, is the industry leader in high-end paintball electronics. HATER similarly is the manufacturer of various other paintball products including the Hater Sauce and Marmalade paintball lubricants, Gun Graffiti barrel bands, and various paintball lifestyle products.
The NPPL, or really it’s parent/holding company, Pacific Paintball, which also has PB2X, Paintball.com, XPSL, and a couple of other things, is in the process of declaring Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. No Chapter 11 for them. Some VCs are probably pretty unhappy right now.
Basically, all of Pacific’s assets will be auctioned off, with all the capital being given to the creditors that Pacific couldn’t pay. Some person or group could get some good deals, assuming they can actually do something with them in the end.
There will also be a meeting for all the “big wigs” in Vegas. Mostly, I assume, about this and how to keep their own asses from failing. There is also supposed to be talks about the possibility one single league (for the entire world, no, the universe) with one set of rules
John Amodea, the editor of PB2X, has sent out an email about PB2X and his future intentions. He has a blog that he will keep updated.
Here’s their press release:
Pacific Paintball and its subsidiaries will be filing proceedings under the United States Bankruptcy Code to effect a liquidation of their respective assets and business operations. The affairs and assets of Pacific Paintball LLC, NPPL LLC, XPSL LLC, PB2X LLC, Xtreme Paintball Fields LLC and Camp Pendleton Paintball LLC will be administered by a court appointed trustee in bankruptcy. The bankruptcy court will provide you with written instructions regarding how and where to file any claims in this matter.
Despite doing all we could do, we were unable to make the business a viable concern. Further, in this severe economic climate, we were unable to secure new funding. It is a truly regrettable outcome, though one which is unfortunately occurring more and more frequently in this environment. We thank all those who have supported us.
Here’s Amodea’s email:
Hello friends,
By now you probably have heard that Pacific Paintball and its subsidiaries will be filing proceedings under the United States Bankruptcy Code to effect a liquidation of their respective assets and business operations. This includes our magazine, the NPPL, and all of Pacific Paintball’s other companies. Since many have speculated as to what this means as far as the magazine and my future in paintball goes, I thought I’d try to clear that up.
First, the liquidation of Pacific Paintball means that all of the company’s assets—from their computers, airball bunkers, netting and other physical property as well as their trademarked names—will all be sold. This is assuming there are interested buyers. At least that’s how I understand this. That leaves open the possibility for someone to buy any of the Pacific Paintball brand names to continue running the operation(s) as they see fit.
As for me—I’ve been in paintball for 23 years, with 18 years of running paintball magazines. This is what I am and this is what I’ll continue to be. I will pass on more about what I will be working on next at my new blog site, http://john-amodea.blogspot.com/, which will be up and running this Friday, December 5th.
Finally, I wanted to express my gratitude for all of the relationships I’ve developed and for all of the support you’ve given to Paintball 2Xtremes Magazine. Please keep in touch and feel free to e-mail me at [omg, no spam]. I look forward to working for and with you all again soon.
